The Sunburn

      During the summer my friend Matthew invited Cason and me to the beach. We stayed in a place called the Caribe and they had three pools and a lazy river. We spent a lot of time messing around in the lazy river and had fun just floating around. We stayed out there for hours and even at night (when we made a giant stack with all the tubes but that is another story). After we had a lot of fun we went to bed ready for the next day.
      The next day I had a giant sunburn all over my shoulders when I woke up. You could put your hand an inch away from my skin and feel the heat radiating off of it.  I forgot to put on sunscreen and would soon regret it in a few days. I will never forget to put on sunscreen again because of the terrible sunburn I got during the summer.

    Ouch! That sounds like it hurt. I hope it healed quickly. Hopefully, you learned your lesson so it won't happen again. I love your imagery about the sunburn.

Dear 12 Year Olds

     Dear 12 year olds, have fun. Don't stand in the back and be shy. Instead, go and make some friends and do whatever you think is fun. Do things that 40 year old you will tell to your kids as a cool story on how great life is. Make memories you can look back on and smile or laugh.      Dear 12 year olds, don't stress about everything. Things will work out one way or another no matter what situation your in. It doesn't matter if its a ton of homework or your in the hospital, things will work out and you'll be able to move on.

Hurricane Katrina

      Hurricane Katrina was in the top five deadliest hurricanes in the U.S. It first hit Florida as a hurricane on August 25. It then went to the Gulf of Mexico the next day to become a category five hurricane but weakened to a category three when it hit Louisiana on August 29. It caused a lot of damage in Florida and between Louisiana and Texas.       Most of the destruction was in New Orleans. 80% of New Orleans was flooded and Katrina had caused almost 1,500 deaths in the city alone. Katrina brought around 8-10 inches of rain in eastern Louisiana. The most rainfall recorded was 15 inches. The Hurricane caused a ton of destruction and almost 900,000 people lost power.
