Strengths and Challenges

      I have learned more about my strengths and weaknesses in writing throughout the school year. For some of my strengths, I found that I could write more easily on longer and more thought out papers. For example, I spent a lot of time on the research paper, which allowed me to find an interest in the subject, and I could use that to make my writing more interesting.       The shorter writing assignments are hard for me. I have a hard time finding the right words to piece together each sentence the way I want it in a short time. I can also get distracted and rush to finish these assignments, which damages the quality of my writing greatly.

Research Update

    My topic is about whether the strategy that Germany used in World War II was successful or not.  My topic is interesting to me, and I have enjoyed the research I have done. I am having success in finding information to support my opinion on the topic.     Even though there is plenty of information supporting my opinion, a few sources contradict some of my information and make me have to rethink my argument. I had to spend a lot of time on my annotated bibliography at home, but now I feel prepared for the next section of work we have to do.

Trump would not be first president to send National Guard soldiers to US-Mexico border: Jennifer Earl, Fox News       Earl's article from Fox News addresses the recent decision to send National Guard soldiers to the US's border with Mexico. Trump aimed to use the National Guard as a temporary solution to border security until his wall is competed. This decision was also made by the former presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. The plan succeeded a considerable amount in catching illegal immigrants and drug smugglers trying to cross the border in the past.       I chose this article because border control has been a large topic of interest in recent news. I believe that this action to increase border security can create the same success as the past. It was proven to lower immigration and drug trafficking rates, and keep untrustworthy people out of the country.
